capturing moments as they fly by!
self-portrait in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Red Kite Studios is a photography workshop started by me, Rin-rin Yu (pronounced like RIN-RIN… yes, just like that) as a place to showcase some of my favorite recent snapshots.
As a print and broadcast journalist for many years, I found that a camera was always a practical and natural extension, like a third hand or extra doors on my two-door car. Soon I began to spend more time snapping photos of anything and everything I found interesting, invested in a 1-terabyte back-up drive (now on the cloud!), and a habit was formed. Since this website started, my work has been featured in Washingtonian, the Washington Post and The New York Times.
I am based in Washington, D.C., and I frequent the New York City/ Chicago areas, but because I have a tendency to jet off (see my other blog, www.mytravelhats.com), I can be found all over the country and the world.
I have kids, so I know exactly what it’s like to try to take pictures of young, fast-moving and uncooperative small humans.
I am available for photo sessions! Please contact me to set up time, location, details and pricing.
